Newell is a Senior Lecturer at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic and has made a number of unsubstantiated claims and engaged in logical fallacies that would shock even the casual observer. As an example, Newell claims:
"The subluxation as vitalistic concept, an impediment in and of itself to health and well being, impeding the expression of higher intelligence is not only entirely bereft of any evidence whatsoever but is a complete non starter even as a scientific question."
Newell claims that what is dangerous about the use of vertebral subluxation are concepts and behavior associated with its use. Newell stated that subluxations are used by some in the profession to "scare or misinform patients"
Newell claims that adherence to a subluxation model is "confusing, un-evidenced and detrimental to our standing as a profession in the outside world" and that "at worse, sometimes used to justify approaches to care and practice models that are unacceptable both inside and outside of the profession."
Newell believes vertebral subluxation and the concepts attached to it are:
". . . used to generate dependancy through fear or coercion. Here, use of such words and concepts essentially as smoke screens for a model of care dominated by a coercive business ethic are strongly reputationally damaging and are not OK."

Stephen Perle is Professor of Clinical Sciences in the chiropractic department at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic (UBCC) and has been a faculty member since 1991. He also serves as chairman of ACA's Research Advisory Board. Besides his role at UBCC Perle is also a consultant to the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health, Division of Health Systems Regulation since 1996. The Connecticut Board of Chiropractic falls under this Division.
Among other things, Perle believes the subluxation construct is "scientifically unsubstantiated" and that those focusing on subluxation are practicing a "pseudo-religion".
Perle is also the immediate Past President of the West Hartford Group which is rife with subluxation deniers including Michael Simone DC who serves on the Colorado Board of Chiropractic.
According to the schedule for Palmer West Homecoming that was held May 3-5, 2019 Perle presented on the same topic.

Bobby Maybee heads up the Forward Thinking Chiropractic Alliance - an anti-subluxation, anti-vitalism hate group. Maybee was involved in the attacks on subluxation chiropractors at the recent World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) that spawned a formal complaint by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA).
Also joining Newell, Perle and Maybee is Hazel Jenkins who is a member of the faculty at Macquarie University and an outspoken critic of the use of x-ray for the analysis of vertebral subluxation.
The issue of evidence based chiropractic has been getting a lot of attention lately as these Subluxation Deniers seek to re-define evidence based practice in ways that exclude anything other than what they refer to as "high level evidence" i.e. randomized controlled trials. This tactic has been effective in places like the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada where chiropractors managing vertebral subluxation in a vitalistic, salutogenic fashion have come under attack by the very chiropractors who regulate them.
One of the sponsors of the Chiropractic Australia conference is Foot Levelers. Foot Levelers is also a major sponsor of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). Foot Levelers President Kent S. Greenawalt, CEO also started the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP). Geenawalt's support of the anti-vitalistic, subluxation deniers within chiropractic comes despite F4CP's endorsement by many in the subluxation community where many have come to forget that it is a moral crime to support your own destruction.
