Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation Responds to Proposed Changes in CCE Preface

Primary Care, Necessary Drugs & Subluxation at Issue

The Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation has responded to the Council on Chiropractic Education’s (CCE) call for comment on proposed changes to the Preface to the Standards.

The proposed changes were developed and AGREED upon by a so called “CCE Consensus Committee” made up of the following individuals representing their organizations:

The document produced by this Consensus Committee has been reported on previously – click here to access report.

The bottom line is that the CCE:

  1. Wishes to advance the notion of chiropractors as primary care providers despite evidence that chiropractors are not trained to provide the full spectrum of primary care.
  2. Wishes to allow room for the inclusion of drugs and surgery within the training and practice of chiropractic.
  3. Wishes to sideline the practice objective of analysis and correction of vertebral subluxation and make it synonymous with other, more vague conditions such as neuro-biomechanical lesion.

Chiropractors are encouraged to submit their concerns regarding these proposed changes to the CCE. Submission must be received by January 2, 2013 and may only address the issues related to changes in the Preface.
