The leadership of the Florida Chiropractic Society (FCS) flew to Georgia recently to join with the Georgia Council of Chiropractic (GCC) to present checks totaling $25,000.00 in donations to the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation (FVS).
The presentation took place during the GCC's Annual Convention held in Atlanta on December 9-10. The checks were presented by GCC and FCS leadership including:
Daniel Tew DC - GCC President
Drew Henderson DC - GCC Vice President
Brian Lieberman DC - GCC Immediate Past President
Brian Moriarity DC - FCS President
Josh Freemyer - DC - FCS Vice President
Eddie Martinez DC - FCS Immediate Past President
The donations follow another recent donation from the GCC in the amount of $10,000.00 and are part of the goal of the GCC and FCS to raise $50,000.00 to support the Foundation's research initiative on the role of chiropractic in immunity.

According to Dr. Haas, she and the team are ". . . in the process of compiling a broad-category search of research literature intended to link the established neurophysiological affects of the chiropractic adjustment to potential impacts on multiple integrated systems, using a dynamical systems model and drawing from multiple fields of study."
While Dr. Haas is busy addressing this aspect of the project the FVS is gearing up to conduct practice based clinical research on immune function following chiropractic care and these funds will be earmarked for that project.
The Foundation's goal is to raise $100,000.00 in order to provide a Fellowship to an individual to develop and conduct a clinical research project exploring how specific chiropractic adjusting to reduce or correct vertebral subluxations impact the immune system.
Upon receiving the donations the Foundation's Vice President Matthew McCoy DC, MPH stated: "We are so very grateful for the generous support from the Florida Chiropractic Society and the Georgia Council of Chiropractic for their work protecting and promoting principled chiropractic in their states and for their support of subluxation research."
According to McCoy there have been a couple of recent attempts by others to do immune research by groups in chiropractic, however those efforts were not focused on vertebral subluxation and instead focused on spinal manipulation and joint dysfunction. Sadly, another project out of New Zealand concluded after a highly flawed literature review that its not yet known if there is a "clinically relevant" effect from chiropractic.
McCoy stated "These failed efforts make it clear that its really important to define your terms, choose your operational models thoughtfully and be really careful about researchers who pretend to embrace subluxation when raising money for themselves and then suddenly forget about it when they conduct the study and publish the results."
McCoy added "You have these supposed chiropractic researchers that troll the subluxation and vitalistic camps within chiropractic, use the "S" word, make promises about their research, get people to write checks and all the while they are really just doing research to appease the Chiropractic Cartel and the Subluxation Deniers who run it."
The Foundation's efforts are supported by a group of dedicated donors intent on protecting the right of the public to receive chiropractic care focused on vertebral subluxation and the right of chiropractors to provide such care.
Please join them in supporting these efforts by making a donation to the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation today!
