Remembering Arno J. Burnier, D.C.
Many are commenting that few individuals in the chiropractic community are recognized by just their first names. Arno was one of them. Arno J. Burnier, D.C., was a renowned doctor of chiropractic, international public speaker, mentor, coach, and teacher. His impact on chiropractic, health, and healing was profound, and his legacy will endure in the countless lives he touched.
A Life Dedicated to Chiropractic and Service
Arno's journey began in France and led him to Sherman College when it was in its infancy. Married for 35 years to his extraordinary wife Jane, he was a devoted father and grandfather. His dedication to chiropractic was not just professional; it was deeply personal. He helped countless individuals understand and embrace chiropractic principles, teaching them to trust the innate intelligence of the body, nature, and life itself.
He was a mentor to many, and his influence in the world of chiropractic and healing was significant. Arno traveled extensively, holding seminars and teaching practitioners the art and science of chiropractic. His MLS seminars became legendary, known for transforming students and doctors alike into better adjusters and more compassionate caregivers.
Touching Lives and Building Connections
Arno's ability to connect with people was unparalleled. His influence extended beyond chiropractic adjustments; he performed wedding ceremonies, held newborns, and guided individuals through life's most significant moments. One chiropractor shared, "If it wasn’t for YOU, I would not have met my wife, have our kids, or even practice chiropractic. Because of YOU, my wife, my brother, my niece are ALL chiropractors, and TENS OF THOUSANDS of lives have been changed for the better."
Arno's teachings were not confined to the classroom or seminar hall. He taught his students to serve, be humble, take action, and stand for what they believe in. He embodied these principles in his own life, leaving a lasting legacy of love and service. One mentee reflected, "Arno taught me how to SERVE and truly LOVE others. He taught me to be a ChiropracTOR and trust the innate intelligence of the body, of nature, and of life."
Galvanizing the Chiropractic Profession
Arno was a fierce advocate for chiropractic education and professional freedom. He played a crucial role in galvanizing the chiropractic profession, orchestrating the submission of over 4,000 complaints against the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) and exposing the monopoly of the Chiropractic Cartel. His efforts were instrumental in promoting freedom within chiropractic education and ensuring that future generations of chiropractors could practice without undue restriction.
A Legacy of Love and Wisdom
Arno's impact on his students and colleagues was immeasurable. He helped them navigate their professional and personal lives with wisdom and compassion. He was a father figure to many, especially those who had lost their own parents. "Arno was a father figure for me after losing my own father at 14 years of age. There’s only three men who I have loved and respected to such a profound level—my husband, my dad, and Arno," shared one chiropractor.
His teachings extended beyond chiropractic techniques to encompass a holistic view of life. Arno encouraged his students to embrace beauty, joy, and fun in their lives. He inspired them to stand up for what they believe in and to live authentically. His love for activities like riding motorcycles, snowboarding, hiking, and even wine tasting demonstrated his zest for life and his ability to connect with others on a deeply personal level.
A Personal Journey of Healing and Transformation
Arno's book, "Cafe of Life and the Mosquito Principle," reflects his philosophy and life's work. Inspired by a quote from the Dalai Lama, Arno emphasized the power of small actions to make a significant impact. His book is a testament to his belief in the innate power within all of us and the importance of trusting in life.
One chiropractor recounted, "The first thing I pictured when I heard he transitioned was the biggest hugs that I’m sure Terry and Sheena greeted him with. Thank you, Arno…you have lived out loud and left a ripple in this world."
A Final Farewell
It was noted that Arno passed away on July 21 at 7:21 pm under the energy of a full moon. His passing marks the end of a remarkable journey but also the beginning of a lasting legacy. His teachings, leadership, and way of being will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we remember Arno, we celebrate his journey to becoming one with the divine. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the light he brought into the world. "You can stop polishing the sword now…you did it," a student wrote. "PLEASE bathe in the LOVE THAT WE ALL have for you and Jane. Until we meet again, Arno J. Burnier, D.C."
Rest in peace, dear friend and mentor. Your spirit soars freely, guiding us all with your love and wisdom.
