Chiropractic Care Leads to Functional Improvement and Pain Reduction in Fibromyalgia Patients
A new case study published in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research (Volume 2024, Pages 69-80) offers promising insights into the role of chiropractic care in improving the symptoms of fibromyalgia. The case study, titled "Functional Improvement and Pain Reduction in a Patient with Fibromyalgia Undergoing Chiropractic Care: A Case Study & Review of the Literature", was authored by Dr. Kristal Henry, DC, and explores the functional recovery of a 56-year-old male suffering from fibromyalgia.
The patient presented with debilitating symptoms, including severe low back pain, neck pain, migraines, and chronic fatigue. He also experienced paresthesia, digestive issues, and relied on a cane for mobility. Traditional therapies and medications had provided little to no relief, prompting him to explore chiropractic care.
Using Torque Release Technique (TRT) and the Activator protocol, Dr. Henry provided the patient with targeted chiropractic adjustments. Over time, the patient reported significant reductions in pain, increased mobility, and the remarkable ability to walk unaided, no longer requiring the cane for support.
This case study underscores the potential for chiropractic care, specifically techniques like TRT and Activator, to improve both mobility and quality of life for those battling fibromyalgia. As the number of people affected by fibromyalgia continues to grow, this research calls for more studies into the efficacy of chiropractic adjustments in managing the condition's widespread symptoms.
Fibromyalgia patients seeking alternative or complementary treatments may find hope in these findings, which offer evidence that chiropractic care can play a crucial role in pain management and functional recovery. As research into the relationship between vertebral subluxation and motor tics continues, this study provides hope for more patients who may benefit from chiropractic care as part of their health management.
