Why Do I Do This?

Why Do I Do This?

So few chiropractors appreciate the importance of research to the future of the profession that I am often asked by those close to me why I do what I do.

I grew up as a child in chiropractic and in the past 21 years since I graduated have immersed myself in the clinical, political, academic and research aspects of the profession. I have spent the past 13 years of my life involved in publishing chiropractic research focused on vertebral subluxation, family health and wellness.

This is despite the apathy and in many cases outright disdain and contempt for research that our faction of the profession tends to have. I have heard everything from "We don't need no stinkin' research" to "We know it works and all that matters is my patients get it" etc.

At times it is difficult to persevere and continue to put in the effort it takes to produce the papers that we ultimately publish given these attitudes that seem so widespread.

But I try and ignore them.

I am crystal clear in my vision and the role that research plays in my life's work. I believe research is crucial to the future of subluxation based chiropractic. I believe that we are in an age of accountability in health care that is going to span the rest of our lifetimes. I believe that research and data on the miracles of chiropractic are going to be crucial to convince the masses and policy makers that subluxation based chiropractic is essential to life and wellbeing.

Every day you are changing lives through the power of the chiropractic adjustment. One on one and one spine at a time.

My mission is to shift the profession's "one spine at a time" strategy to the masses and drive people into chiropractor's offices.

I believe that research is a crucial piece of that strategy and I believe that we have an ethical and moral obligation to research what we do.

Won't you join me on this mission?
