Chiropractic Care Shows Promising Results for Vertigo: A Case Study in Elderly Female

In a new case report published in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research (Volume 2024, Pages 81-85), a 75-year-old female patient experienced a remarkable improvement in her symptoms of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) following chiropractic care. Szatkowski, DC, documents the positive health outcomes seen in a patient who presented with both vertigo and generalized cervical pain after a traumatic fall.

The patient, who had fallen from her bed onto a concrete floor, sought chiropractic care for persistent vertigo and neck pain. Upon her arrival at the chiropractic center, the patient described her vertigo symptoms as severe, rating them a 10/10. She also experienced significant discomfort in her cervical region. After a thorough examination and review of her health history, specific chiropractic adjustments were administered, focusing on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine using the Diversified technique. These spinal adjustments aimed to correct structural misalignments—known as vertebral subluxations—that were obstructing the function of the nervous system, a common contributing factor to conditions like vertigo and chronic pain.

Over the course of six adjustment visits, the patient’s care plan included adjustments to various spinal regions. Remarkably, after the sixth adjustment, she reported a dramatic decrease in her vertigo symptoms, stating that her dizziness had diminished from a debilitating 10/10 to an astonishing 0/10. The patient also noted significant relief from her neck pain.

This case highlights the potential of chiropractic care in alleviating symptoms associated with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and cervical pain, particularly in elderly individuals.
